Wegovy alternatives

Wegovy is semaglutide. These are the cheaper routes to the same molecule, and the newer approved pill that changed the maths.

Wegovy is Novo Nordisk’s semaglutide, approved for weight management. Through NovoCare it has run at $199 a month for the first two fills through the end of 2026 and $349 a month afterwards.

That step from $199 to $349 is what sends most people looking. The alternatives are compounded semaglutide — same molecule, pharmacy-prepared, not FDA-approved — and the Wegovy pill itself, which starts around $149 a month and is approved.

What gets a programme onto this table

  • Delivers semaglutide, the same active ingredient as Wegovy.
  • Monthly price includes the medication.
  • Sorted cheapest first.

16 of the 23 providers we track qualify. Every figure checked by hand and verified 2026-09-18 and re-checked periodically.

The list

Every row below is priced against Wegovy at $349 a month, and sorted by how much it saves you over a year. We use the $349 ongoing NovoCare rate rather than the $199 introductory price, because the introductory rate covers only the first two fills. Ranked on our overall score rather than price alone — for pure cost see cheapest semaglutide.

Two things worth knowing before you buy on price

Before you spend anything: approved oral GLP-1s start at $149 a month and Medicare drops to $50 in July 2026. Both undercut a large part of this market, and neither is compounded.

In STEP-1, adults on 2.4 mg lost an average of about 14.9% of body weight over 68 weeks. That figure comes from a controlled trial of the active ingredient, not from any particular seller's product.
